What visitors search from any search engine to buy anything or to know anything all those are keywords.
To say differently,
All the search terms are keywords. What we input on the search engine’s search bar.
What is Keyword Research
Our main goal is to get numerous online traffic behind SEO.
Now if we optimize a keyword that traffic usually does not search how will we get traffic to our website?
Since We understand keywords. Let’s dive in..
To figure out the best fit for ranking and traffic is meant Keyword research. All we need to rank a website or any platform by implementing a prominent keyword which must be brought from research because if you make a mistake during researching Ranking friendly keyword your all attempts will go to the dog.
So learning is that, Our first task of SEO is to find out easy ranking keywords at the commence of website launch.
Why Keyword Research
If you choose the wrong Keyword, your investment may go to waste.
Sometimes it is caused to lose webmasters’ motivation.
For must rank and expected traffic choosing a perfect keyword is crucial.
Types of Keyword
There are several types of Keywords we found on the internet but in my real life experience I usually implement 3 types there.
Broad Match or Generic Keyword or Short tail Keyword.
A keyword with 1 / 2 words which is very broad and general.
Exemple – “Mobile” “ Digital Marketing”
Let me dive into,
Broad match keywords have numerous traffic and search volume with extensive competition.
It takes time to bdt competitors and replace the rank. So if you are just a beginner with low investment you should use the Broad match keyword.
If you have an existing website and huge investment you can proceed with a broad match keyword.
Broad match
High Competition
High Traffic
Low Conversion rate.
Exact Match or Long Tail Keyword
As a beginner I always suggest to start doing research for Long tail or exact match keywords.
What is it?
A keyword consists of 3 + words meaning the exact query is called exact match or long tail keyword. When you get rank by implementing an exact match keyword google rank you for some words that you did not work for them.
When you feel like competing with your competitors after getting a certain amount of traffic, Domain authority and rank. Then you can start working with a short tail.
Characteristics of Exact match or Long Tail keywords:
Low Competition
Low Traffic
High Conversion rate.
Maybe you are perplexed by how high the conversion rate is ?
If 1000 visitors search for the “mobile”, Can you ensure that everybody searches for the same intention ? Not at all,
Thus 50 % divided by different intentions. If the day ends for a mobile keyword one gets 10 sales, the percentage will be 2 %.
On the contrast ,
If using the exact match keyword 100 visitors search for anything 80 to 90 % for the same intention. And convert 5 sales out of 80 or 90 the percentage will be 5.5%
Intent:
There are several intentions but mostly two types of intention.
Commercial / Transactional Intent
If any visitor searches for buying or taking decision for buying anything this is called commercial or transactional intent keyword.
Since there is a bit difference between commercial and transactional, I am using the same line.
Example – “A smart mobile phone 15000 to 20000” “ Review of a mobile phone “
Informational Intent:
When a visitor searches to know anything that’s called an informational keyword.
Example – “ What is Digital Marketing”
Navigational
If any visitor searches a keyword as any brand or page.
Like – “ Samsung Mobile phone “
“ CodersTrust Course”
Take a long breath —– and take a coffee or tea.

Let me interpret all the steps for keyword research.
Step 1 – Firstly take your niche at hand ready,
We have to research keywords as per niche. Take a minimum 20 common keywords.
Step -2 Brainstorming as a searcher.
As a visitor what type of keyword you usually search for that particular niche topic. Say, As a visitor initially I want to know Digital Marketing. So will use “what is Digital Marketing” “ Digital Marketing career “
Thus gather minimum 20 keywords.
Step -3 Get some suggestive keywords from different free or paid sources.
We are already determined to have exact match keywords. So our most of the keywords will be long tail means 3 words + max 6 words with good modifiers and power words.
Some free keyword research tools that give you free suggestive keywords.

- Ahref – Since this is paid tool but for free you can get some keywords.
- Wordstream – using this tool we can generate 250+ keywords for free.
- SEMrush – Recently this tool is also availing their paid feature for free only for one click .
- Keyword Surfer – This is also keyword research tools and good for free keyword research.
- Moz Keyword Explorer – For doing SEO Moz is always my favorite tool. Their features are very user friendly.
- Google Keyword Planner– Google keyword planner, mong free Keyword research tools this is the best I have ever tested. This is a google owned tool so regarding all results there is no confusion that they try always to provide the best result.
- Ubersuggest – This is a paid tool but they have limited free features available.
- Keyword tool io – Get enough suggested keywords from keyword tool io is really super.
- Keyword everywhere chrome extension– I have been using this for 6+ years free and paid both.
- Answer the public – is all a better tool for generation Wh questions.
- Soovle – This is also a popular tool for getting keyword suggestions.
There are lots of tools for SEO.
Step 4 Find all suggestive keywords’s search volume.
In this matter you may need the paid resource help likfe SEMRush , Ahref or Uber suggest or moz pro.
Standard search volume to get started as a beginner like Monthly search volume ( MSV ) 500<5000.
For KGR it will be different.
Step 5 Figure out Keyword difficulty, Rank Difficulty, Ranking competition or SEO difficulty.
Keyword Difficulty / SEO difficulty / Ranking difficulty means how difficult to get the rank by the keyword is ?

By figuring out trend of a keyword we can understand the average search range over the year.
Standard range 25 + on an average.
Step 7 – Validate all keyword and finalize

As a standard parameter of selecting better keywords for your SEO content we must follow this as i do,
Standard parameters are,
MSV Monthly Search volume – 500<5000
Keyword Difficulty – Easy or 15 < 30
Google trends – 25 <
If we meet MSV and KD we can consider them as the desired keywords for selection .
Step 8 Implement in your website where needed.
Our expected keyword research is done.

Shoulder Keywords
Shoulder Keyword means some keywords that are to support the main / primary / focus keywords.
If the primary Keyword is “ Best mobile phone in 2024”
Shoulder Keywords are —
“ Top mobile phone in 2024”
“ Latest Mobile phone in 2024” etc.
Keyword Difficulty (KD)
SEO difficulty ( SD)
Keyword Competition (KC)
Rank Difficulty (RD)
These terms interpret how the keyword is difficult to rank on search engines.
They are often indicated 0 – 100 or very easy to very hard.
The Keyword Golden Ratio (KGR)
KGR is a technique to figure out Long tail keywords with low search volume means fewer than 250 .

Keyword prominent placement / keyword optimization
Keyword prominent placement means to use the researched keyword in prominent places of the webpage.
Say, We usually place the focus keyword in Title, Meta description, header etc.
Keyword Density
Keyword Density means the percentage of times of using the focus keyword compared to the total words.
For an Exemple –
If my blog consists of 1000 words, my Keyword density should be 1 % meaning 10 times.
Keyword Stuffing
If you use your focus keyword more the required density is called keyword stuffing.
Google often considers keyword stuffing is black hat SEO. when you use the same focused keyword more than 2+ percentage this is harmful for your SEO.
If I use 30 times the focus keyword for 1000 words in the blog. This is keyword stuffing.
Keyword Segmentation
If you categorize the keyword as per your focus point.

Keyword clustering.
Keyword clustering means to gather all relevant or related keywords to optimize a content into different search engines or media.
LSI Keyword
Latent Semantic Indexing means conceptually related words to the keyword of the main keywords. It helps search engines to understand the context or relevance of the content.
Say, I use “Car”
What did I mean by the “ Car”
Is it a toy or real vehicle?
To make google understand the context of the word.
If I use Engine, oil, wheels, steer into the content google easily can understand that I meant the word “ car is actually for a real vehicle
